DECEPTION

"Deception pushes, but the Holy Ghost leads."

"I will not allow the enemy to plant something that does not belong in my field."

Joshua 9:1-6

Key Points:

"Don't be Deceived"

• Deception is the "act of causing someone to accept as true what is false."

• Joshua 9:1-6

  • We find the children of israel going into the promise land. They have already defeated the other Gods, and news of the only true living God was spreading.

  • The people of Gibeon were the only ones that did not join with the children of Israel in battle, but instead dressed themselves in deception.

  • The one thing that the people of Gibeon failed to do is they forgot to ask the Lord what they needed to do.

• Joshua 9:5

  • Why did they want to take of the food that was nasty? Why did they want the moldy bread?

    • They never stopped to pray. They never sought Gods direction. They simply accepted what they thought looked right. Before they knew it they made a covenant with people God never told them to join themselves to. By the time they realized they made the wrong choice, it was too late and they had to reap the consequences, because the decision was made without God.

• The enemy of your soul is still in the Deception business.

  • He will use whatever tactic he can.

  • He doesn't always come looking dangerous. Sometimes he looks even compassionate.

  • Because deception hates your prayers. Deception hates waiting on God.

  • WE ALL KNOW THE DEVIL IS A LIAR

  • He cannot Defeat the church, but he will do everything that he can to Deceive the church.

• The Lord is a gentleman and will not force you to do anything.

• The strategy of the enemy is as old as the beginning.

  • Genesis 3:4

    • The first attack of the enemy was not with force, but was with deception.

    • Don't believe the lies the devil still whispers in your ears today. Pray before you make a move. Seek God's face before you trust your eyes.

• Galatians 6:7

  • If he deceives you, he will change what you're sowing.

  • The enemy would love to tell you that if you fall, then your whole field is ruined. It is a lie.

• Galatians 6:9

  • It's not time to give up! It is time to pick up the bag and start sowing some more good seed.
